The Route des Tamarins links the West and the South smoothly. On the coast, watch out for sudden showers and rush-hour traffic around Saint-Denis and Le Port.
The Highlands & the cirques
Cilaos, Salazie, the Maïdo: narrow, winding roads, gentle braking downhill, care on the hairpin bends. A compact car is far more at ease there.
Fords & the rainy season
