Studio, two-bedroom flat or house: the right volume saves you the trips back and forth and spares your back. Here is how to size your panel van.
Sizing it to your home
Allow plenty rather than just enough: one well-loaded trip is less tiring than three runs back and forth. Studio: 10-12 m³. Two-bedroom flat: 17 m³, ideally with a tail lift for the white goods.
The tail lift, your back's best friend
Loading a washing machine or a sofa on your own without a tail lift means taking risks. A large panel van fitted with a tail lift changes everything, especially when there is no loading bay.
Licence and driving fully loaded
A standard category B licence is enough up to 3,5 tonnes. Driving loaded lengthens your braking distances: take it steady on the descents, heavy loads towards the front, straps on every time.
Rule of thumb: a studio fits into a 10-12 m³, a two-bedroom flat calls for the 17 m³ with tail lift. See the sizes in our van hire fleet.
